Setting up a Java Data Collector trace

The trace function for the Java Data Collector enables you to store a history of actions performed by the Java Data Collector, the major product collector responsible for retrieving data from SAP Solution Manager.

To set up trace options for Java Data Collector

  1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click an existing SAP Solution Manager (SSM_SOLMAN).
  2. Select KM Commands >Trace Menu > Set Up Trace for Java Data Collector.
  3. In the Debug Level list, select one of the following levels:
    • ALL
    • CONFIG
    • FINE
    • FINER
    • FINEST
    • INFO (default)
    • OFF
    • SEVERE
    • WARNING
  4. Click Accept.
  5. Click Apply, and click Close

The output file is located in the following locations:

  • Windows*--* %PATROL_HOME%\PROFILE\USER\
  • UNIX*--* $HOME/

Note

The SAP_SM_Coll.properties file contains default configuration values for the Java Data Collector. The next time that the Java Data Collector is restarted, the trace debug level reverts to the value set in this file. The file is located in the following location:

  • Windows--*%PATROL_HOME%\SSMKM*
  • UNIX--$PATROL_HOME/../SSMKM/
