Configuring the monitoring of an SAP PI system

The SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (SAP PI) component facilitates the exchange of information among internal and external software and systems. SAP PI is an integration broker that mediates between entities with varying requirements for connectivity, format, and protocols. To enable the monitoring of the SAP PI component in BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager, you must configure a connection to the System Landscape Directory (SLD) of the relevant SAP PI system.

To configure SAP PI monitoring

  1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click an existing SAP System (SSM_SID_CONT).
  2. Select KM Commands > PI Monitoring > Configure.
  3. In the Configure PI Monitoring dialog box, enter the following information:

    SAP PI configuration fields

  4. If you want to test the connection to the SLD, select the Perform SLD Connection Test check box.
  5. Click Apply.

A new SAP PI container (SSM_PI_CONT) is added under the SAP system (SAP_SID_CONT) branch, along with branches for all discovered SAP PI components.

Note

You might still need to override connection details for certain discovered SAP PI components to enable BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager to access them and retrieve availability data. For example, you might need to specify an alternative host for SAP PI components if the true host is located behind a firewall, or you might need to specify the port to which the pipelines of the Integration Server listen to, if this port differs from the port of the Integration Server itself. For more information and instructions, see SAP PI components discovered but cannot be accessed.

To stop monitoring an SAP PI system

  1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click an existing SAP System (SSM_SID_CONT).
  2. Select KM Commands > PI Monitoring > Remove.
  3. In the confirmation message, click Yes.

All SAP PI monitoring branches are removed under the specific SID.
