Configuring SAP J2EE Systems


The SAP J2EE monitoring has two main monitoring capabilities:

  • Automatic discovery for availability monitoring of core SAP J2EE components such as JAVA application servers, SCS, server and dispatcher process
  • Discovery and sample the J2EE stack of the SAP system, SAP Dual stack systems and SAP J2EE standalone system. 

BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager provides JMX metrics monitoring from SAP J2EE server process

To start using BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager, you must define connections with the relevant SAP J2EE System.

The following procedures describe how to define, edit, or delete connections with SAP J2EE System.

To configure a new SAP J2EE System

  1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click an existing SAP Solution Manager system.
  2. Choose KM Commands > SAP J2EE Setup.
  3. In the SAP J2EE Systems dialog box, perform one of the following actions:
    • To add a new SAP J2EE System, select Add and click Accept.
    • To edit an existing SAP J2EE System, select it in the list, then select Edit and click Accept.
    • To delete an existing SAP J2EE System, select it in the list, and select Delete, and click Accept. Then click OK to confirm.
  4. In defining or editing, enter the information, as follows:
    1. Label - A unique, user-defined name for the SAP J2EE system.
    2. Java MS Host - Message Server host of the SAP J2EE system central services (SCS) in located."ms/http_port"
    3. J2EE MS Port - Message Server HTTP port number of the SAP J2EE system (4 digits) as maintain the systems profile

      Note

      The combination of the MS Host and J2EE MS Port values must be unique per system.

    4. SAP OS User - Name of a SAP Operating user. For example: SAPSIDadm
    5. SAP OS Password - Password for the specified user.
    6. J2EE Administrator User - Name of the users authorized to log on to the SAP J2EE system as administrator. For example: j2ee_admin,administrator
    7. SAP J2EE Password - A password for the specified user.
    8. J2EE Version - Version numbers of the monitored SAP Systems. For example: 640, 700, 710, 720, 730
    9. Jar Directory - SAP Java Client library directory. Name of the directory where the SAP Jar files reside.

      For example:
      Windows:
      C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol\SSMKM\Jars\<directory-name>

      Unix\LINUX:
      /opt/bmc/Patrol3/SSMKM/Jars/<directory-name>
  5. Click Apply to save the configuration.
  6. Click Cancel to close the dialog box.
