Using traces


The trace function enables you to store a history of actions performed by BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager in various areas. The trace function enables you to keep track of the processing of the data received by BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager, and serves as an important tool in troubleshooting problems in the KM. After the set up, a trace icon is added to the desktop, enabling easy viewing of the trace.

The following table presents a summary of the different types of available traces.
The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.

To view a trace (Windows only)


Double-click the trace icon.

The trace is displayed in the PATROL Console work area.

Note

If traces appear truncated, define a larger buffer size for the text window through the User Preferences dialog box (Options > Preferences ), on the Configuration tab.

To delete a trace (Windows only)


Right-click the trace icon and select Destroy.

The trace is deleted from the desktop.

Note

Deleting a trace does not prevent new traces from being created. To turn the trace off, select 0 as the trace level value when you set trace options.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
