Editing executable variables

You can override the following default paths defined by the PATROL Agent host computer's system variables, which are used by BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager:

• Location of the Java executable that runs the Java Data Collector (the major product collector responsible for retrieving data from SAP Solution Manager).
• Location of the lib directory used by the JCo.

To override paths to executables in variables using PATROL Console

1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click an existing SAP Solution Manager system (SSM_SOLMAN) or the SSM_SETUP icon.
2. Select KM Commands > SAP Solution Manager Setup.
3. In the SAP Solution Manager Systems dialog box, click Edit Executable Variables.
4. In the Java Pathfield, enter the location of the Java executable file for this system, using the following sample paths as examples:
   • Windows-- C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_02\bin
   • UNIX-- /usr/bin/java/
5. In the Library Pathfield, enter the path to the libraries directory used by the JCo, using the following sample paths as examples:
   • Windows-- C:\Program Files\...\lib
   • UNIX-- /home/patrol/lib
6. Click Accept.
7. When you have completed all necessary configuration, click Close in the SAP Solution Manager Systems dialog box.

To override paths to executables in variables using Central Monitoring Administration

1. In the Central Monitoring Console, go to Global administration settings.

2. Under Global administration settings:

   1. In the Java Pathfield, enter the location of the Java executable file for this system, using the following sample paths as examples:
      • Windows-- C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_02\bin
      • UNIX-- /usr/bin/java/
   2. In the Library Pathfield, enter the path to the libraries directory used by the JCo, using the following sample paths as examples:
      • Windows-- C:\Program Files\...\lib
      • UNIX-- /home/patrol/lib
