Configuring the monitoring of SAP Solution Manager


With SAP System Landscape as the selected monitor type, the Add Monitor Types dialog box enables you to configure details for connecting to the SAP Solution Manager system. 

Field

Description

Label  Name

Enter a name for the SAP Solution Manager system.

ABAP Configuration Attributes

MS Host

Enter a valid Message Server Host name or IP for the SAP Solution Manager.

R/3 MS RFC Port

Enter the R/3 Message Server RFC port number of the SAP Solution Manager system.
The Message server RFC port number is a 4-digit number.
Note that the combination of the MS Host and the R/3 MS RFC Port values must be unique per system.

User

Enter the name of a user with the following authorizations:

  • S_RFC
  • S_RZL_ADM
  • S_XMI_PROD
  • S_TABU_DIS
  • S_ADMI_FCD
  • S_TABU_RFC

Password

Enter a valid password for the specified user.

SAP Client

Enter the SAP Solution Manager system working client. (The SAP Client is a 3 digit number. The default is 000).

Language

Enter the Language to use to log on to the SAP Solution Manager system. (The default is EN).

Group

Enter the name of the logon group used by the SAP Logon Load Balancing function.

Destination

Enter the path to the RFC INI file, which stores optional configuration data. This data overrides configuration information that has been defined for this system.

Template Name

Enter the monitoring template name, SAP CCMS based metrics monitoring template.

SAP System Type

Choose one of the following system types:

  • SAP Solution Manager 7.0
  • SAP Solution Manager 7.1
  • SAP Satellite System

J2EE Configuration Attributes

J2EE MS SID

Enter a name with which a device is created in the KM hierarchy.

J2EE MS Host

Enter the Message Server host of the SAP J2EE system central services (SCS) in located.

J2EE MS Port

Enter the Message Server HTTP port number of the SAP J2EE system (4 digits) as maintain the systems profile "ms/http_port".

SAP OS User

Enter the name of a SAP Operating user. For example: SAPSIDadm

SAP OS Password

Enter a valid password for the specified user.

Special chars {},(), “  are not supported.

SAP J2EE  User

Enter the name of the users authorized to log on to the SAP J2EE system as administrators ( For example: j2ee_admin, administrator) or users that are having the following roles:

  • SAP_XI_DISPLAY_USER_J2EE 
  • NWA_READONLY 

SAP J2EE  Password

Enter a password for the SAP J2EE user.

Special chars {},(), “  are not supported.

J2EE Version

Enter the version numbers of the monitored SAP Systems.

For example: 640, 700, 710, 720, 730

SAP Java Client library path

Enter the name of the directory where the SAP J2EE Jar files reside. 
In Windows, the jar files should be copied to the following path: 
c:\Program Files\BMC Software\PATROL3\SSMKM\jars\<Directory name>
In UNIX/Linux, the jar files should be copied to the following path:
/opt/bmc/Patrol3/SSMKM/jars/<Directory name> For more information on jar files, see Deploying Java archive files.
For example:
In Windows, if all the 7.30 jar files are copied to c:\Program Files\BMC Software\PATROL3\SSMKM\jars\730,  you need to enter 730 as the directory name.
In UNIX/Linux, if all the 7.10 jar files are copied to /opt/bmc/Patrol3/SSMKM/jars/710, you need to enter 710 as the directory name.

Note

If you want to monitor more than one version of J2EE, you have to create separate folders for each J2EE version. 

Template Name

Enter the name of the following templates which contain the list of objects and parameters selected for monitoring:

  • J2EEDefaultTemplate
  • J2EEextendedTemplate

If this field is left blank, the default template is used.

You can use multiple templates with comma-separate.

J2EE Host Filter

Hosts Filter Type

Enter the J2EE host name that needs to be included or excluded from monitoring. You can enter the exact host name or a regular expression matching multiple host names. To add multiple entries, enter two backslashes and a pipe-separated (\\|) list of the host names.

Host Name Filter

Enter the name of the host. Regex is allowed too.

PI Configuration Attributes

SAP SID

Enter a name for the SAP Solution Manager instance.

SLD Host

Enter the name or IP address of the computer that hosts the System Landscape Directory (SLD). 

SLD Port

Enter the port number to connect to the SLD. 

SLD Protocol

Enter the protocol used to connect to the SLD. You can enter one of the following: 

  • HTTP
  • HTTPS

PI Components Protocol

Enter the protocol used to connect to the PI components.  You can enter one of the following:

  • HTTP
  • HTTPS

Admin User

Enter the name of the user with administration privileges for logging on to the SLD. For example: PISUSER

Admin Password

Enter the password for the specified user.

RWB User

Enter the name of the user that is used to connect to the Runtime Workbench (RWB). For example: PIRWBUSER

RWB Password

Enter the password for the specified RWB user.

Business Systems User

Enter the name of the user that is used to connect to the SAP PI Business Systems. For example: PIAPPUSER

Business Systems Password

Enter the password for the specified Business Systems user. 

KM admin

Map Instance to device

Select this option to map the configured instance to the device.

Restart Java Collector

Select this option to restart the Java collector for the selected configuration.

Note

If you are adding J2EE stack to an existing SAP ABAP system, select the Restart Java collector check box in the KM admin details.

Set Java Collector Logger Level

Select this option to set Java collector logger level. Set this option to all configurations for more detailed trace files.

Global administration settings

Java Home

Specify the path to the JRE directory (aka $JAVA_HOME environment variable) on the PATROL Agent host.

If you use the $JAVA_HOME variable, the Java location depends on the following:

  • No user name and password are entered for the Java collector settings; the KM uses the Java location of the user running the PATROL agent.
  • A user name and password are entered for the Java collector settings; the KM uses Java location of the user entered in the collector settings.

If you enter a path for the JRE directory, you must enter the full path, such as C:\Program files\Java\jre1.8.0_151\bin. Do not use the short path format.

JCO path

Download the following files:

  • (Windows) sapjco3.dll
  • (Linux) libsapjco3.so
  • sapjco3.jar

Move these files to the following folder:

  • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\Patrol3\SSMKM\jars
  • Linux: .../Patrol3/SSMKM/jars

Enter the full folder path in this field.
