Configuring SAP HANA in PATROL environment
To monitor a SAP HANA database using PATROL for SAP HANA, you must define connections with the SAP HANA database systems.
Perform the following tasks to configure PATROL for SAP HANA for monitoring SAP HANA database:
Configure SAP HANA connections
The following procedures describe how to define, edit, or delete connections with SAP HANA systems.
- From the PATROL Console work area, right-click on the SAP HANA container (SHM_Root application class).
- Select KM commands > Configuration > Database.
- In the SAP HANA dialog box, perform one of the following actions:
- To add a new SAP HANA connection, select Add and click Apply.
- To edit an existing SAP HANA connection, select it in the list, then select Modify, and click Apply.
- To delete an existing SAP HANA connection, select it in the list, then select Delete, and click Apply. Then click Close to confirm.
- If adding or editing, enter the information, as follows:
Name—A unique, user-defined alias name, host name or IP address of the SAP HANA system.If you have provided an alias name, then you must configure the device IP address or host name by providing the IP address or host name in the Host name/IP field.
This field is enabled only when you add a new system.
- Host name/IP—System name or IP address of the system. You can leave this field blank if you have provided the actual host name or IP address in the Host name/IP field.
- Instance number—Instance number for the SAP HANA system.
An instance number is a two-digit identifier that is unique on a host. Use a comma separator to configure more than one SAP HANA system instances. - User Name—Name of a user authorized to log in to the SAP system. For more information about roles and privileges, see User-roles-and-privileges-for-SAP-HANA-Database.
- Password—Password for the specified user.
- Confirm Password— Password for confirmation.
Poll interval (sec)—The collection frequency in seconds. The default value is 300 seconds.
The maximum value you can select is 3600 seconds. The minimum value is 10 seconds.
Timeout (sec)—The timeout in seconds for JDBC queries. The default value is 30 seconds.
The maximum value you can select is 300 seconds. The minimum value is 1 second.
Availability only—Option to monitor the availability of SAP HANA.
Enable this option to monitor only the status of SAP HANA.
Disable this option if you want to monitor both the status and statistics of SAP HANA.
- Disable monitoring—Option for disabling the SAP HANA monitoring.
Click Apply to save the configuration or click Cancel to exit without saving any changes.
Configuring Custom SQL query
After configuring SAP HANA system, you can configure Custom SQL queries. The following procedures describe how to define, edit, or delete Custom SQL query.
- From the PATROL Console work area, right-click on the configured SAP HANA name (SHM_Device application class).
- Select KM commands > Configuration > Custom SQL query.
- In the Custom SQL query dialog box, perform one of the following actions:
- To add a new Custom SQL query, select Add and click Apply.
- To edit an existing Custom SQL query, select it in the list, then select Modify, and click Apply.
- To delete an existing Custom SQL query, select it in the list, then select Delete, and click Apply. Then click Close to confirm.
- If adding or editing, enter the information, as follows:
- SQL name—SQL query name.
- Instance number—Instance number of the SAP HANA system instance on which you want to configure the SQL query. Use a comma separator to specify more that one instance number.

- Click Apply to save the configuration or click Cancel to exit without saving any changes.
Administering tasks
From the PATROL Console work area, right-click on the SAP HANA container (SHM_Root application class) to perform the administering tasks:
- Access KM commands > Administration > Device mapping to enable device mapping to consolidate the configured SAP HANA systems at the device level. By default, this option is enabled.
Access KM commands > Administration > Java home path to specify the Java Home directory.
The environment variable, Java home or PATROL Agent JRE will be used by leaving this field empty.
Access KM commands > Administration > Logging to enable logging. The log files are created at:
(Windows): %PATROL_HOME%\shm\logs
(UNIX): $PATROL_HOME/shm/logsBy default, this option is disabled.
