Terminating processes on the host level


To optimize the usage of system resources and enhance system performance, you can terminate orphan processes and zombie processes detected on the host level.

To terminate orphan processes

  1. From the PROCESS (OA_OS_PROC) application menu, select Admin Tool > Kill Orphan Processes.
  2. Enter the OS root user name and password.
    A list of UNIX orphan processes that are located on the database server is displayed.
  3. Select the process (or processes) you want to terminate, and click Accept.
  4. Click Yes on the confirmation message.
    The Kill Orphan Processes report displays the result.

To terminate a zombie's parent process

  1. From the PROCESS (OA_OS_PROC) application menu, select Admin Tool > Kill Zombie's Parent Process.
    A list of zombie processes is displayed.
  2. Select the process (or processes) you want to terminate, and click Accept.
  3. Click Yes on the confirmation message.
    The Kill Zombie's Parent Process report displays the result.
