Terminating Oracle Application processes

Based on the data supplied by PATROL about problematic processes, you can decide on a course of action to improve system performance. BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite provides you with easy, automated, options for managing processes:

  • For high-CPU, long-idle, or blocked processes, you can terminate ("kill") users sessions responsible for problematic processes.
  • For disconnected processes, you can terminate any process for which a lost connection was detected.

To terminate user sessions responsible for processes

  1. From the APP_USER (OA_USER) application menu, select Kill User Session.
  2. Enter the Oracle user name and password.
A list of current user sessions is displayed.
  3. Select the user session (or multiple user sessions) you want to terminate, and then click Accept.
  4. Click Yes on the confirmation message.
The Kill User Session report displays the result.

To terminate disconnected processes

  1. From the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application menu, select Admin Tool > Kill Disconnected Oracle Procs.
A list of disconnected processes is displayed.
  2. Select the process (or processes) you want to terminate, and click Accept.
  3. Click Yes on the confirmation message.
The Kill Disconnected Oracle Procs report displays the result.
