Setting process thresholds

Before monitoring processes, you must set the thresholds for high CPU and long-idle processes.

To set the high CPU threshold

  1. From the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application menu, select Setup > High CPU Threshold.
The High CPU Threshold dialog box opens.
  2. Enter the percentage of CPU utilization that a process can reach before it is recorded as a high CPU process. The out-of-box setting is 50%.
  3. Click Apply to Selected.
The new threshold is applied. When a process reaches a higher percentage CPU, the NumHighCPUProcess parameter alarms.

To set the long-idle threshold

  1. From the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application menu, select Setup > Long Idle Threshold.
The Long Idle Threshold dialog box opens.
  2. Enter the number of minutes that a process can take before it is recorded as a long idle process. The out-of-box setting is 60 minutes.
  3. Click Apply to Selected.
The new threshold is applied. When a process (concurrent or FND logon) has been idle for longer than this threshold, the NumLongIdleProcess parameter alarms.
