Setting disconnected process detection
Use this task to automatically monitor Oracle-related processes for a lost database connection.
This topic contains the following information:
Monitoring is done based on a special user-defined Disconnected Process detection list. You can add (and view and remove) individual high-priority concurrent program names to this list. In addition, you can specify the type of process you want BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite to monitor, either all processes on the list or only CPU-consuming processes.
To add a process to the disconnected process watch list
- From the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application menu, select Setup > Disconnected Process Detection > Add Process Name.
- Enter an Oracle-related process name that you want PATROL to monitor.
If the process becomes disconnected from the database, the NumDisconDBProcess parameter will enter an alarm state.
To delete processes from the list
- From the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application menu, select Setup > Disconnected Process Detection > View/Delete Process Name.
The View/Delete Process Name dialog box displays the list of processes included in the Disconnected Process watch list. - Select the desired process or multiple processes and then click Accept.
The selected processes are deleted from the list.
To specify the process type for the watch list
- From the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application menu, select Setup > Disconnected Process Detection > Specify Process Type.
The Process Type Specification dialog box opens. - Select the type of process that you want PATROL to monitor:
- Select All Processes to monitor all disconnected processes appearing on your watch list. If any process on your list becomes disconnected from the database, the NumDisconDBProcess parameter enters an alarm state.
- Select CPU Consumers Only to monitor only disconnected processes that are consuming CPU resources. If a process on your list becomes disconnected from the database and continues to consume CPU resources, the NumDisconDBProcess parameter enters an alarm state.
- Click Accept.
The selected type is applied to alerting based on your watch list for Disconnected Process Detection. .
