Monitoring long-idle processes

When a user does not engage in any activity for an extended period of time, the user session contains long idle-processes. If there are many long-idle users, they might consume a large amount of UNIX processes, which are limited based on the size of your UNIX kernel setting. Long-idle users can also occupy a license that can be used by someone else.

Two parameters in the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application enable you to monitor long-idle processes:

Parameter

Type

Description

NumLongIdleProcess

Graph

Shows the number of Oracle processes (concurrent or FND) with an idle time that exceeds the Long Idle Threshold. You can review the information specific to a point on the graph by double-clicking the annotated data point.

ListLongIdleProcess

Report (text)

Shows the list of Oracle processes with an idle time that exceeds the Long-Idle Threshold.

Note: Only concurrent processes or FND logon processes are listed. Processes that are made to the database through SQL Plus or any tool other than the Oracle E-Business application are not included.
