Monitoring blocked processes


A blocked process occurs when a user accesses Oracle Applications and opens a record. If the user makes changes to a record, but does not save the changes for a significant period of time, the record is locked open. If a second user tries to access the same record, he or she can query the data but cannot make changes because the first user has locked the record. You can also be blocked by a batch process or SQL*plus process. If a user is blocked from a record for an extended period of time, the NumBlockedProcess parameter enters an alarm state.

The parameters ListBlockedProcess and NumBlockedProcess do not support blocked concurrent managers.

Two parameters in the APP_PROCESS (OA_PROCESS) application enable you to monitor blocked processes:

You can review the information specific to a point on the graph by double-clicking the annotated data point

ListBlockedProcess

Report (text)

Shows the list of blocked Oracle processes. For each process, this list displays request and user information.
