Two-tier probe troubleshooting

The Probe agent must access SQL*Plus in order to issue the queries against the database. Therefore, the SQL client for that host must be installed and accessible by the Probe agent.

Log on to the Probe agent host using the PATROL account. Locate the SQL*Plus client and verify that it can log on to the database using the information provided during Probe configuration.

A common issue with two-tier configuration is attempting to use an improperly installed or configured Oracle client. It is critical that the Oracle client software be installed and configured correctly before configuring the Probe to use that software.
