User goals and features

The following list summarizes the features of BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite:

• As part of the PATROL family of products, allows a single enterprise-wide viewpoint for interactive monitoring and management of the Oracle Applications modules on one or more Oracle Applications systems, including the underlying Oracle database and operating system resources, as well as various three-tier servers (Web server, Forms server, etc.)
• Provides parameters that analyze system activity and performance.
• Provides up-to-date information for all monitored components that form the Oracle Applications system.
  Notifies the console user when a system component becomes unavailable or enters an error state.
• Provides built-in PATROL Script Language (PSL) commands that perform frequently used administrative actions.
• Provides statistical records about the allocation and use of resources
• Monitors up and down status for individual components and entire systems and provides flexible options for proactive management actions, or recovery actions.
• Monitors concurrent managers at an individual level and provides statistical reports for concurrent requests. Multiple concurrent managers can be monitored, not only on the local host, but also on any remote host.
• Monitors the Oracle Interface Transaction Manager, which captures data from Oracle and non-Oracle applications, converts and validates the obtained data, and inserts the data into destined tables within Oracle Applications.
• Monitors various Oracle Applications modules: Financials, Manufacturing, Human Resources Management, Payroll, Order Entry/Management, several SCM modules, and Sales Compensation CRM module.
• Monitors all the Oracle Applications related processes, including Oracle background processes, database connections, user logon processes, concurrent manager processes, and forms and web servers.
• Provides the capability to demonstrate and evaluate the PATROL knowledge module without having to install Oracle Applications and database software. BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite can also record a user session for later debugging by support personnel.
• Monitors Oracle Applications two- and three-tier environment configurations.
• Provides direct end-to-end performance measurement of executed Oracle Applications database queries from selected desktop clients. The measurements include logon response time and response time for each of the modules.
• Provides scalability to allow you to monitor only certain Oracle Applications parameters and to choose a minimum or maximum level of monitoring for each of the PATROL components.
• Provides a central GUI to allow users to select different, built-in recovery actions or plug in their own proactive management actions, or recovery actions.
