Installing PATROL components
You will need to install certain pieces of PATROL on different computers in your Oracle Applications environment. The following diagrams illustrate various environments, and their corresponding installation requirements. These diagrams are for conceptual information only; your environment might differ.
In the following figure, the Oracle Applications database, the Forms and Web server, and the Probe server are all mounted on different computers. This type of configuration is a standard three-tier configuration, with part of the application tier residing on the database server. The components are also listed in the following table.
Standard three-tier installation
The Oracle Applications database is on the Oracle database server. To monitor this computer, you must install:
- BMC PATROL Agent to communicate the information to the BMC PATROL Console
- BMC PATROL UNIX KM to gather operating system information
- BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite 3.4.10 to monitor the Oracle Applications
environment
The Forms, Applications, and Web Server is mounted on one or more other computers in the environment.
To monitor the web server, the following must be installed onto the server(s):
- BMC PATROL Agent to communicate the information to the BMC PATROL Console
- BMC PATROL for UNIX to gather operating system information
The Probe server is a user workstation used to monitor the end-to-end response time. It is an optional component. To use the Probe server, you must install onto the server:
- BMC PATROL Agent to communicate the information to the BMC PATROL Console
- BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite 3.4.10 Probe components (OA_PROBE_LST.kml) to probe the Web or database server

The following figure illustrates a stand-alone database three-tier configuration, where the application tier is independent of the database server.
Stand-alone database installation
The Oracle Applications stand-alone database is on the Oracle database server. To monitor this computer, you must install:
- BMC PATROL Agent to communicate the information to the BMC PATROL Console
- BMC PATROL UNIX KM to gather operating system information
The Forms, Applications, and Web Server is mounted on one or more other computers in the environment.
To monitor the web server, the following must be installed onto the server(s):
- BMC PATROL Agent to communicate the information to the BMC PATROL Console
- BMC PATROL for UNIX to gather operating system information
- BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite 3.4.10 to monitor the Oracle Applications environment

In the following figure, the Oracle database server, the applications server, and the Web server are all mounted and running on one computer.
Installation on one machine
To monitor this computer, you must install:
- BMC PATROL Agent to communicate the information to the BMC PATROL Console
- BMC PATROL for UNIX to gather operating system information
- BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite to monitor the Oracle Applications 3.4.10 environment
- BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite Probe 3.4.10 (OA_PROBE_LST.kml) to probe the web or database server (optional)
