Customizing KM-provided recovery actions
PATROL provides you with standard proactive management actions, or recovery actions, to apply to events triggered from BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite. These recovery actions allow you to proactively correct, manage, and alert personnel to issues with your Oracle Applications environment. You can customize these actions by creating scripts to run as part of the recovery action, enable or disable the recovery action, or change the settings for a KM-provided recovery action.
You must complete the setup of an Application ID before you can customize KM-provided recovery actions. For more information, see Configuring-the-application-system.
- From the Oracle_Apps hostName application menu, select OA Configuration.
The KM-Configuration-for-Oracle-Applications-dialog-box appears. - Select the Application ID for which you want to customize actions, click Customize Recovery Actions, and click Accept.
The Select Recovery Action dialog box lists all the KM-provided (predefined) recovery actions. - Select a predefined recovery action to customize, and click Accept.
Each recovery action is triggered by a parameter going into alarm. See the Parameters Triggering Recovery Actions table for a description of recovery actions and the parameters that trigger them.
The Customize-Recovery-Action-dialog-box appears. - Select the recovery type for the recovery action.
Some recovery types are not available for selected recovery actions. If applicable, the display indicates that a recovery type is not available for the selected recovery action. To disable the recovery action, select No Recovery. - If you selected User-defined Recovery - OS script or User-defined Recovery - PSL script, enter the full path of the script. The script must be located in the database server.
- Some recovery actions require a user name and password to execute the task. If you selected Automatic Recovery, you must click Specify username/password and type the user name and password required for the recovery action you want to customize.
For example, to automatically execute a recovery action for Database Down, type the Oracle user name and password used on the database server. To automatically execute a recovery action for Forms Server Down, type the Forms Server user name and password. The recovery action will then be executed automatically when required.
If you selected User-defined Recovery, you can select Use Default PATROL Account, or select Specify username/password, and type the Oracle user name and password used on the database server. - Click Accept.
