The following flow chart describes the configuration of BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite for monitoring your Oracle Applications system.

Setting up BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite

The information required to configure the Application instance will differ depending on your Oracle Applications system configuration.

If you are using a middle-tier server such as a web server or forms server, the middle-tier server setup procedure is optional. If you do not configure PATROL to monitor the middle-tier server, BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite will not discover or monitor the server, but this will not affect database server monitoring. For instructions on configuring middle-tier servers, see Configuring-middle-tier-servers. 

After configuring the application system, BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite provides default threshold settings, which it uses to monitor your Oracle Applications environment. Because these threshold setting might not be appropriate for your environment, BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite allows you to change the threshold settings.

Setting up the BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite Response-Time Probe is optional. You can set up the response-time probe to provide direct end-to-end performance measurement of executed Oracle Applications database queries from selected desktop clients. Setup summary

To configure BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite, you must first configure the database server. If you are using a three-tier configuration, you must then set up the middle-tier for monitoring. The following tasks are included in the setup procedure:

  • Database server configuration
  • Middle-tier server setup:
    • Configuring a web server
    • Configuring an Apache server
    • Configuring a forms server
    • Configuring a metrics server
    • Adding a middle-tier server host

Configuring the database server

Use this task to configure the database server. If the database is already being monitored by BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite, use the task Configuring-middle-tier-servers. To monitor the Oracle Applications system instance, you must create an Application ID.
