Pre-loading BMC PATROL for Oracle e-Business Suite

If you choose to pre-load the PATROL KM, the console is not required to monitor your Oracle Applications environment.

A UNIX shell script, contained within the OAKM directory in the PATROL installation directory, has been created to configure pre-loaded PATROL knowledge module files for a local BMC PATROL Agent. This script pre-loads the required PATROL knowledge modules to the local agent, so Oracle Applications can be monitored without console connection. The script configures the list of PATROL knowledge module files specified in the OA_LST.kml and OA_PROBE_LST.kml files of the product. This script also configures the PATROL knowledge module file used to monitor a UNIX host; that is, PATROL knowledge module file UNIX3.kml.

This topic contains the following information:

A different UNIX shell script, also contained within the OAKM directory in the PATROL installation directory, has been created to configure pre-loaded PATROL knowledge module files for a remote BMC PATROL Agent. This script pre-loads the required PATROL knowledge modules to the local agent, so Oracle Applications can be monitored without console connection. This script configures the PATROL knowledge module file used to monitor a UNIX host; that is, UNIX3.kml.

An additional UNIX shell script, also contained within the OAKM directory in the PATROL installation directory, has been created to configure pre-loaded PATROL knowledge module files for the Probe component. This script pre-loads the required PATROL knowledge modules to the local agent, so Oracle Applications can be monitored without console connection. The script configures the list of PATROL knowledge module files specified in the OA_PROBE_LST.kml file of the product. This script also configures the PATROL knowledge module file used to monitor a UNIX host; that is, UNIX3.kml.

You should execute this configuration script once, after the PATROL KM has been installed successfully. The script can be executed by any user, preferably by the "patrol" user who owns the PATROL root directory. You can execute this script with or without a BMC PATROL Agent running on the local Oracle host.

For more information about pre-loaded KMs, refer to the BMC PATROL Agent Reference Manual.

To execute the pre-load configuration script

  1. From outside the BMC PATROL Console for UNIX, change to the PATROL installation directory.
  2. At command prompt, enter the following command:
    ./OAKM/oa_preloadKMs.sh
  3. For users with security level 3 or above, the keyfile dialog box appears.
  4. Enter the key path (root/common/security/keys/bmcuser.kdb) and the password.
If the BMC PATROL Agent is running, the script restarts the Agent to make the changes effective.

For more information about pre-loaded KMs, refer to the BMC PATROL Agent Reference Manual.

To execute the remote pre-load configuration script

  1. From outside the BMC PATROL Console for UNIX, change to the PATROL installation directory.
  2. At command prompt, enter the following command:
    ./OAKM/oa_preloadRemoteKMs.sh
  3. For users with security level 3 or above, the keyfile dialog box appears.
Enter the key path (root/common/security/keys/bmcuser.kdb) and the password.
If the BMC PATROL Agent is running, the script restarts the Agent to make the changes effective.

For more information about pre-loaded KMs, refer to the PATROL Agent Reference Manual.

To execute the pre-load configuration script for the Probe component

  1. From outside the BMC PATROL Console for UNIX, change to the PATROL installation directory.
  2. At command prompt, enter the following command:
    ./OAKM/oa_preloadProbeKMs.sh
  3. For users with security level 3 or above, the keyfile dialog box appears.
Enter the key path (root/common/security/keys/bmcuser.kdb) and the password.
If the BMC PATROL Agent is running, the script restarts the Agent to make the changes effective.
