Configuring a web server

Note

After you have set up an Access Control List on your web server, you must make sure the web server is allowed to communicate with the database server before you can monitor the web server. To do this, you must change the pconfig variable on the web server to give the Oracle account the same permissions as the PATROL account.

You can configure an Oracle web server for monitoring either during the initial configuration of your instance, or after an instance has already been configured.

  • To configure the web server during the initial setup of your system, after selecting Web Server in the Optional Servers field of the Add-OA-Server-Configuration-dialog-box, the OA Server Configuration for Web Server dialog box appears. Proceed with Step 5 below.
  • To add a web server for monitoring after your instance has been configured, perform the following procedure.

Note

If you are using Oracle Applications versions 10.7 or 11.0.x, you will configure the Oracle Web Server, using the following procedure. If you are using Oracle Applications version 11i or later, you will configure the Apache Server. See Configuring-an-Apache-server.

  1. From the Oracle_Apps MainMap hostName menu, select OA Configuration.
The KM-Configuration-for-Oracle-Applications-dialog-box appears, listing the application IDs that have been configured.
  2. Select the Application ID you want to change, select Modify KM Configuration, and click Accept.
    The Modify-OA-Server-Configuration-dialog-box appears.
  3. In the OA Password field, type the password for the Oracle Applications database account
  4. From the Optional Server field, select the Web Server check box.
  5. Click Accept.
The Configure Middle-Tier Servers dialog box appears.
  6. Select the middle-tier server ID you want to change, select Add, and click Accept.
The Add OA Server Configuration - Web Server Information dialog box appears.
  7. From the PATROL Agents Run On list, select the server host on which the web server resides. If more than one option is available, select the host and port number running a BMC Patrol Agent, with the UNIX KM monitoring the middle tier server that you want to configure.
  8. Type the Web Server Access Information in the corresponding fields.
If you want to configure the web server using a server host that does not appear on the list, do not select a server host, but fill in the other fields.
  9. Click Accept.
If you did not select a server host, the Add Middle-Tier Server Host dialog box appears.
  10. Enter the server host information into the appropriate fields, and click Accept.
The web server is configured for monitoring.
