Configuring a remote tier environment
Perform the following configuration task if you want to monitor a remote tier environment (including a remote database server and remote Oracle Application servers) from a standalone BMC PATROL Agent.
Before you begin
- Ensure that you have selected the Remote option check box on the Add-OA-Server-Configuration-dialog-box.
- Ensure that an Oracle client is installed on the local host and that the Applications Oracle Home value for the Oracle client on the local host is specified in the Add OA Server Configuration dialog box.
To configure a remote tier environment
- From the applicationID (OA_SYSTEM) menu, select Configure Remote Tier > DB Tier > Add Server Host.
- Define the PATROL properties of the remote database server host through the Remote-Database-Server-dialog-box.
- From the applicationID (OA_SYSTEM) menu, select Configure Remote Tier > DB Tier > Add DB Details.
- Define the Oracle properties of the remote database server host through the Remote-Database-Details-dialog-box.
- From the applicationID (OA_SYSTEM) menu, select Configure Remote Tier > Application Tier > Add Server Host.
- Define the PATROL properties of a remote application server host through the Remote-Application-Server-dialog-box.
- From the applicationID (OA_SYSTEM) menu, select Configure Remote Tier > Application Tier > Add Appl. Details.
- Define the Oracle properties of a remote application server host through the Remote-Application-Details-dialog-box.
- Repeat steps 7 and 8 for any additional application servers.
