Note

If you are setting up a two-tier (SQL) Probe, the Oracle client must be set up on the Probe host.

  1. From the PROBE_MON application menu, select Configuration > Probe Agent Setup.
The Probe-Agent-Configuration-dialog-box appears. The first time you set up a Probe instance, the Probe Agent Configuration dialog box will not list a Probe ID. After you have configured a Probe instance, the Probe Agent Configuration dialog box lists existing Probe instance IDs.
  2. Select Add and click Accept.
    The Oracle-Probe-Method-dialog-box appears.
  3. Select the Oracle Probe Method.
If you are running Oracle Applications in a two-tier environment, select direct sqlplus (two tier).
The Add Probe Agent Information (2-tier) dialog box appears.
If you are running Oracle Applications in a three-tier environment, select connect via HTTP (three tier).
The Add Probe Agent Information (3-tier) dialog box appears.
  4. Enter the Probe Agent Configuration information into the appropriate fields, then click Accept.
The new Probe instance ID configuration is validated. If the configuration passes the validation, the new Probe ID is created. If the configuration fails the validation, the Add Probe Agent Information dialog box will reappear to allow for error correction.
After setting up the Probe instance, you must set up the Probe modules so that the Probe understands what it should monitor.

If an error occurs with the Probe instance setup
