Add OA Server Configuration dialog box

Use this dialog box to enter the application and database information about the Oracle Apps server so that PATROL can monitor the server.

Items on this dialog box

Field

Description

Application System Information

Application ID

Enter the unique name of the application system
Do not use spaces in the ID, and do not specify an ID that is identical to the host name.

OA Environment File

Enter the full path of the Oracle application environment file on the host (either on the database host, or, if using a stand-alone database, on the application server). The default file name depends on your version of Oracle Applications:

  • on version 10.7 and 11.0.3_:_ APPSYS.env
  • on version 11i: APPSORA.env
  • on version 12: APPSsid_node.env

OA Printer

Enter the default printer name for the concurrent manager (optional)

Alert Mail

Enter the mail daemon process including all arguments. The Alert Mail Process is used to send Oracle alert messages via Oracle Office, UNIX Mail, or VMS Mail.

To find the mail daemon process, use the following command:
ps -ef grep mail

Entering the information correctly will allow the PATROL KM to restart the mail daemon process if it stops running.

Database Information

OA Username

Enter the Oracle Applications database account name, which owns the application tables

OA Password

Enter the password for the Oracle Applications database account

DB TNS_ADMIN

Enter the location of the tnsnames.ora file in the Oracle user environment (TNS_ADMIN variable). This field is conditionally required.

Application Server Information

Applications Oracle Home

Enter the ORACLE_HOME directory which contains the client components and libraries with which the application libraries are linked

Applications TNS_ADMIN

Enter the location of the tnsnames.ora file in the Oracle Applications user environment. This is typically the APPLMGR user environment. (TNS_ADMIN variable)

Note

The following fields are optional for all users: OA Printer, Alert Mail, and Applications TNS_ADMIN.

In the case of monitoring a remote tier environment from a standalone BMC PATROL Agent, the Applications Oracle Home value is for the Oracle client on the local host. In addition, only the Application ID, OA Username and password, and Applications Oracle Home are necessary for the configuration of remote monitoring.
In addition to the above fields, the following options can be selected:

  • Scale data collection enables you to tailor the scope of your monitoring to suit your requirements.
  • Optional Servers: Monitoring of middle-tier servers is optional. If you want to configure middle-tier servers, check the corresponding check boxes.
  • Remote option: enables the monitoring of a remote tier environment from a standalone BMC PATROL Agent (as described in Configuring a remote tier environment).
