Subscribing to a Client-Based Event

Perform the following task to subscribe to an event in client-based notification mode. When a matching event is detected, notification will be sent to a specified client.

Warning

Note

This command may not function as described in this documentation due to an error in the Oracle Tuxedo T_EVENT_CLIENT MIB. The client ID to be notified for a triggered event cannot be specified; the client ID will always default to the ID used by the PATROL data collector for Tuxedo, patcol.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have completed the following items:

  • Installed the PATROL Agent and Console and have them running
  • Loaded and configured the PATROL for Oracle Tuxedo

To Subscribe to a Client-Based Event

  3. Complete the Event Broker Subscription dialog box as follows:
    • In Event Expression, enter the event pattern expression; this expression controls which event names match this subscription.
    • In Event Filter, enter a filter against which the event will be matched; if the filter conditions are met, the event will be passed to the Event Broker.
    • In Client Selection, use the pull-down list to select the client ID, user ID, and client name for the client to which notification will be sent when a matching event is detected. Only the patcol client should be chosen.

      Warning

      Note

Although the Client Selection drop-down list will show all connected clients, only the patcol client can subscribe to an event. If another client name is selected, the subscription will still be for the patcol client.

  4. Click Accept to subscribe to the event.
