Icons do not appear

This section provides the information about the icons missing.

BEATUX_SERVICE parameter icons are missing

If you double-click on the BEATUX_SERVICE application class icon, a window opens but displays no parameters.

Most likely cause:

BEATUX_SERVICE includes no parameters; only menu commands and infobox.

Solution:

None. This is normal behavior.

BEATUX_SYSTEM icon not alarming after shutdown

If you use the Shutdown Domain command on a Windows NT platform, the BEATUX_SYSTEM icon may not change to an alarm state.

Most likely cause:

The collector process (PATCOL) terminated unexpectedly, preventing the application class from updating.

Solution:

Restart the PATCOL collector from the BEATUX_SYSTEM instance icon. You can also use the Tuxedo tmshutdown command rather than the PATROL Shutdown Domain command.

BEATUX_SYSTEM instance icon missing

There are two likely reasons why a BEATUX_SYSTEM icon will not show up for a registered application instance:

Possible cause 1: permission errors
The PATROL Agent must be able to access the TUXCONFIG file, its parent directory, and the TUXEDO home directory.

Solution 1
Verify that the PATROL Agent has permissions to read and execute:
 The directory in which TUXCONFIG is located
 The TUXEDO home directory
Verify that the PATROL Agent has permissions to read:
 The TUXCONFIG file
Verify that the TUXEDO Administrator has permissions to read, write, and execute:
 The directory in which the PATROL Collector (PATCOL) is located (for example, $PATROL_HOME/$TARGET/bin)
Note that the TUXCONFIG file in PeopleSoft 7 installations is named $PS_HOME/appsrv/your_domain/PSTUXCFG

Possible cause 2: configuration error

PATROL for Oracle Tuxedo requires all of the configuration information requested in the Register TUXEDO Instance dialog box in order to function correctly.

Solution 2

Use the Update a Tuxedo Instance command to display the Register TUXEDO Instance dialog box. Verify that all of the parameters are correctly defined.
