Registering a Tuxedo Instance
You must provide configuration information that defines your Tuxedo environment to the PATROL monitoring environment. This information includes the instance name, the location of the Tuxedo home directory and configuration file, and an administrator account name and password that PATROL can use to perform system management operations.
To Register a Tuxedo Instance
- Right-click the BEATUX_SETUP icon.
- Choose KM Commands > Register Tuxedo Instance.
The Select TUXEDO Version dialog box appears. - Click the appropriate button to tell PATROL which version of Oracle Tuxedo you are using:
- Select Oracle Tuxedo Version 6.5 if you are running Tuxedo version 6.5.
- Select Oracle Tuxedo Version 8.x if you are running Tuxedo version 8.0 or 8.1.
- Select Oracle Tuxedo Version 9.x or later if you are running Tuxedo version 9.x or later.
Select 64-bit version of Tuxedo only if both the Tuxedo binaries and the operating system are 64 bit. Do not select this option if the operating system is 64 bit, but the Tuxedo binaries are 32 bit.
- Click Next. The Register Tuxedo Instance dialog box appears.
- Complete the Register Tuxedo Instance dialog box as follows to describe your environment:
- In Tuxedo Instance Name, enter a name that uniquely identifies the Tuxedo instance you are creating.
The name cannot contain spaces, nor can it be a duplicate of a name already used. - In Tuxedo Home Directory, enter the full path where Tuxedo was installed (TUXDIR), for example, /apps3/tux65/tru64.
In Tuxedo Configuration File, enter the full path of the Tuxedo configuration file (TUXCONFIG), for example, /apps3/tux65/tru64/apps/simpapp/tuxconfig.
- In Tuxedo Admin. Username, enter the user ID of the user who will be monitoring Tuxedo, this will normally be the owner of the TUXCONFIG file.
If Tuxedo is running with PeopleSoft, the ID used must be the PSTUXCFG owner; in other cases, another ID can be used but it must have read access to TUXCONFIG and its parent directories, and it must be a member of the Tuxedo Admin group.
If you have a locked down environment, use a secondary group owned by the primary Tuxedo Admin group. In such a case, set the PERMS attribute in TUXCONFIG to 0660 for the primary group, granting the primary group read and execute permissions. In Tuxedo Admin. Password, enter the password for the user ID entered in the previous field; this password can not begin with the zero character (0).
- In Tuxedo Instance Name, enter a name that uniquely identifies the Tuxedo instance you are creating.
- Click OK.
