Guidelines

Announcement Support for this product will end on December 22, 2025. To monitor Oracle databases, we recommend that you use PATROL for Oracle Enterprise Database.

Configuring RAC One Node monitoring

The Oracle_R1N application class identifies the Oracle Real Application Cluster One Node databases and updates the correct instance at the correct location.

Before you begin

  • PATROL Agent must be installed on all of the participating nodes
  • ORACLE.kml must be used to configure the R1N instance that is currently running.
  • ORACLE.kml and ORACLE _R1M.kml must be loaded on all the participating nodes.

Note

In PATROL for Oracle Database Monitoring 9.7.11.03 and earlier, the KM uses the srvctl utility to determine Real Application Cluster One Node location and configuration. Here are the commands that it runs:

  • location: srvctl status database -d <DB unique name>
  • configuration: srvctl config database -d <DB unique name>

From the 9.7.12 and later versions, the KM uses the the crsctl utility to determine Real Application Cluster One Node location and configuration. Here are the commands that it runs:

  • location: crsctl status resource -w 'TYPE == ora.database.type'
  • configuration: crsctl status resource ora.<DB unique name>.db -p

To set location of Oracle RAC One Node

  1. From the ORACLE _R1N menu for primary instance, choose Set SRVCTL location.
  2. Enter the ORACLE_HOME or any other location where the SRVCTL utility is located. This value is updated in the /OracleConfig.SRVCTLHome pconfig variable.
  3. Click Accept.

To modify the ports of the PATROL Agents running on the RAC One Node

  1. From the ORACLE_R1N menu for primary instance, choose Set Candidate Servers Information.
  2. Enter the PATROL Agent hosts and PATROL Agent ports, that need to be changed. This values is updated in the /Oracle.Config.CandidateServers pconfig.
  3. Click Accept.

Note

Now Oracle KM support RAC one node on Standby as well.
