Setting debugging options
Use this task to set the options for the debugging function. Debug displays all messages from both PATROL and Oracle. This information can be useful for troubleshooting your installation or configuration.
For the configuration log files, see the appropriate log file:
- For the batch configuration log file, see the $PATROL_HOME/../oracle/conf directory for UNIX and %PATROL_HOME%\oracle\conf directory for Microsoft Windows.
- For the automatic configuration log file, see the $PATROL_HOME/../oracle/log directory for UNIX and %PATROL_HOME%\oracle\log directory for Microsoft Windows.
For the other log files, see the appropriate log file:
$PATROL_HOME/../log directory for UNIX and %PATROL_HOME%\log directory for Microsoft Window.
The log file name composed of:
POK_<SID>_<Name>-host-port.kmlog
Using debug menu command at root level of each KML
- From the ORACLE menu, select KM Commands > Debug.
- Set ON/OFF
Using debug menu command at instance level of each KML
- From the INSTANCE menu, select KM Commands > Debug.
- Set ON/OFF
Using debug menu command at Oracle instance level
- From the Oracle Instance menu, choose KM Commands > KM Admin > Debug.
- Set ON/OFF
To debug a channel
To debug a channel you have to add a Pconfig variable with value 1 for each KML.
The following are the pconfig variable for each KML:
- Oracle:
/OracleConfig.<instance name>.ChanDebug - ASM:
/ASMConfig.<instanceName>.ChanDebug
- Dataguard:
/DGConfig.<instanceName>. ChanDebug
- Standby dataguard:
/StandByDGConfig.<instanceName>.ChanDebug
- RAC:
Debug channels will be printed within RAC debugs.
