Resetting the global channel

The global channel provides a single connection between the PATROL Agent and the Oracle instance. The global channel can get blocked due to an excessive number of simultaneous requests for locks or if a collector takes longer than expected to execute queries. You can unblock the global channel by using the following tasks to reset it.

To reset the global channel for all instances

  1. From the ORACLE menu, choose Global Channel Reset.
The Global Channels dialog box lists all global channels for all instances. The following information for each global channel is displayed:
The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
  2. Select the global channel to reset and click Accept.
The selected global channel is reset.
  3. Click Cancel to exit this function.

To reset the global channel for a specific instance

  1. From the INSTANCE menu, choose KM Admin > Global Channel Reset.
The Global Channels dialog box lists all open global channels for the selected instance.
  2. Select the global channel to reset and click Accept.
The selected global channel is reset.
  3. Click Cancel to exit this function.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
