Announcement Support for this product will end on December 22, 2025. To monitor Oracle databases, we recommend that you use PATROL for Oracle Enterprise Database.

Alert Log Size (AlertLogSize)

This parameter shows the size of the instance alert log in megabytes.

Recommendations
 Move or delete the .errorlog file if it is too large.

  • For versions earlier than Oracle11g, the PATROL for Oracle Database looks for Alert_<SID>.log in the directory defined by the Oracle parameter background_dump_dest.
  • For Oracle version 11g and later, the PATROL for Oracle Database looks for Alert_<SID>.log in the directory <diagnostic_dest>/diag/rdbms/<dbname>/<instanceName>/trace where <diagnostic_dest> is the Oracle parameter.
