Physical Reads (PhyReads)
The PhyReads parameter reports the total number of physical reads performed per second on the monitored tablespace in the previous polling interval. If Oracle has been performing multiblock I/O, this number may not equal the BlkReads parameters, but it should not be greater.
Also, this parameter may not agree with the I/O traffic that is reported by the operating system. This issue is due to some reasons that can include the possibility of non-Oracle traffic to the device and additional levels of caching being applied by the operating system.
This parameter uses dba_data_files and v$filestat Oracle objects for the data collection.
If this value is too high, consider one of the following actions:
- Redistribute the tablespace data to even out the load.
- Move one or more datafiles to another disk.
- Take the busy table out of shared datafiles, and place it in its own datafile on a separate disk.
If you have recently added a datafile to your tablespace, the datafile is monitored after ten polling cycles of CollAvailability.
