Announcement Support for this product will end on December 22, 2025. To monitor Oracle databases, we recommend that you use PATROL for Oracle Enterprise Database.

Oracle Database Data Guard


This topic provides information about configuring the Oracle Data Guard Instance by using TrueSight console.

Note

Ensure that you configure the primary instance using the Oracle Database Instance monitor type in the Oracle Database monitor profile before you configure the standby instance using the Oracle Data Guard monitor type.

On the Add Monitor Types dialog, with the Monitoring Profile set to Oracle Data Guard, and the Monitor Type set to Oracle Data Guard, provide the following details:

StandBy Instance Monitoring Configuration

Primary Instance Information

Primary Instance Name

Specify the primary instance name that you have configured in the Oracle Database monitor profile.

StandBy Instance Details

Standby Instance Information

Standby TNS Entry

Specify the TNS service entry name that you will use to connect to the data guard instance.

Standby Instance Account Credentials

User Name

Enter the username with SYSDBA privilege to connect to the data guard instance.

Password

Specify the database instance password.

Note

If the database user password contains special characters, specify the password within the double quotes. Example: “%BMC$"

Confirm Password

Re-type the database instance password.

Add to List

To add the configured standby instance to the list of standby instances, click the button.

Modify Selection

To modify a configured standby instance, from the list of standby instances, click the button.

Remove from List

To remove a configured standby instance, from the list of standby instances, click the button.

Add to List

To add the configured standby instance to the list of standby instances, click the button.

Data Guard Debug Option

Configuration Debug

Select the check box to enable the debugging of the Data Guard instance configuration.

Discovery Debug

Select the check box to enable the debugging of the Data Guard discovery.
