This section describes the prerequisites that you must perform before you configure an OCI monitoring.
Before configuring a policy to start monitoring your OCI environment, perform the following in your OCI console. The values that you copy to a text file are required to configure an monitoring policy to monitor your OCI infrastructure.
Step 1
a) Create a user with required permissions in the OCI for the monitoring. The user needs read-only access to the resources it will be monitoring.
Example policy to be associated with the user:
Allow group '<domain>'/'<group>' to read all-resources in tenancy
OR
Allow group '<domain>'/'<group>' to read all-resources in compartment '<compartment>'
Step 2
View the user's details on the OCI console:
a) If you're adding an API key for yourself:
Open Profile and click My Profile.
b) If you are an administrator adding an API key for another user:
Open Navigation >Identity & Security >Domain>Users. Locate the user in the list, and then click the user's name to view the details.
Step 3
Navigate to API Key and click Add API Key.
Step 4
a) Click Download Private Key and save the key in a directory.
You will need to copy this key on the PATROL Agent server later.
b) Click Add.
The key is added and the Configuration File Preview is displayed. The configuration file contains the required parameters and values you need to configure the monitoring.
Copy and paste the configuration file details from the text box into a file for your reference.
