Troubleshooting


This topic describes how to troubleshoot issues for BMC PATROL for OpenStack.

Enabling debug

If you encounter certain problems using this KM, to help BMC Support resolve the issue, enable the debug.

Using policy UI

In KM configuration, select the Enable Logging check box to enable debug. 

Note: If debug is disabled, the log file contains only warning level log records.

Using pconfig variable

To turn debugging on/off

  1. Access the /POS/OpenStack/BMC_CO/logging pconfig variable.
  2. Set this variable to 1 to enable the debug, or 0 to disable.

The log file is located at the $PATROL_HOME/OpenStack/log directory. The log file name is <ENVIRONMENT_NAME>_<PORT>_JavaCollector.log. By default, the maximum size of the log file is 10 MB.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
