1.0.00 features

This topic describes the key features in version 1.0.00 of the BMC PATROL for OpenStack Knowledge Module (KM).

BMC PATROL for OpenStack KM provides the ability to monitor your OpenStack cloud operating system along with many of its components. The OpenStack system monitoring includes the following services.

Discover components in the OpenStack Site

After you import the OpenStack KM repository and configure a Site for monitoring, BMC PATROL for OpenStack automatically discovers the following components:

  • Nova (Compute)
  • Neutron (Network)
  • Cinder (Block storage)
  • Swift (Object storage)
  • Glance (Image)
  • Ceilometer (Telemetry)

Nova Compute Service

Manages the lifecycle of compute instances in an OpenStack environment. Responsibilities include spawning, scheduling and decomissioning of machines on demand. For more information, see OpenStack-Endpoint-OPENSTACK_ENDPOINT

Neutron Network Service

Enables network connectivity as a service for other OpenStack services, such as OpenStack Compute.

Cinder Block Storage

Provides persistent block storage to running instances. Its pluggable driver architecture facilitates the creation and management of block storage devices. For more information, see OpenStack Endpoint (OPENSTACK_ENDPOINT)

Swift Object Storage

Stores and retrieves arbitrary unstructured data objects via a RESTful, HTTP based API.

Monitor Published Applications

At the Application level, you can monitor Published Applications to determine if they are enabled for use and the number of running instances of that Application.

For more information, see Citrix-Application-BTK_APPLICATION.
