Product overview

The PATROL Agent and Knowledge Modules (KMs) are used to collect data in BMC Helix Operations Management. The PATROL Agent provides the required infrastructure to KMs to collect data. The following image shows how BMC Helix Operations Management collects data for monitoring by using the PATROL Agent and KMs:

After you install KMs and the PATROL Agent, configure monitor policies in BMC Helix Operations Management. Data collection begins after you enable the monitor policies. Use the Devices page in BMC Helix Operations Management to view the collected data.

PATROL for Nutanix Knowledge Module

Nutanix is a hyperconverged infrastructure platform that provides computing, storage, and virtualization in a single integrated system.

BMC PATROL for Nutanix KM is a monitoring solution that helps organizations monitor their Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). By connecting to Nutanix Prism Central's REST APIs, the KM discovers clusters, hosts, virtual machines, and storage pools. It then collects essential performance and health metrics and streams them to BMC Helix Operations Management.

For more information about the Prism Central and its REST APIs, see the Nutanix documentation.

Use the BMC PATROL for Nutanix KM to monitor the following metrics:

Centralized Monitoring

Monitor Nutanix infrastructure through Prism Central, which serves as the single point of management and data collection. Use Prism Central REST APIs to discover entities and collect performance metrics. To learn more about the configuration, see Configuring after installation.

           1770712876212-795.png

Region-agnostic monitoring

Add multiple Prism Central endpoints into a single monitor policy. With this capability, you can monitor Nutanix environments across multiple regions without creating separate policies. To learn more about the configuration, see Configuring after installation.

Discovery of Nutanix  Entities and key metrics

Discover the Nutanix hierarchy, such as clusters, hosts, VMs, and storage pools. Additionally, collect the essential performance metrics for Clusters, Hosts, VMs, and storage pools, including CPU usage, Memory utilization, and IOPS. To learn about the entities, see Monitor types and attributes.

   Performance graphs

View graphs created by using the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of the monitor type. By using the graphing options, you can dynamically change the metric or other graph data. You can view hourly, weekly, monthly, or quarterly graph data. To learn more about viewing the performance graph, see Viewing the performance overview.
