Monitor the Nutanix infrastructure by using PATROL for Nutanix, which enables continuous monitoring of clusters, hosts, and virtual machines through Nutanix Prism Central. For details about the attributes collected during monitoring, see Monitor-types-and-attributes.
- In BMC Helix Operations Management, select Configuration > Monitor Policies > Create Policy.
- Click Add Monitoring Configuration.
- From the Monitoring Solution list, select Nutanix Monitoring.
- From the Monitor Profile and Monitor Type lists, select Nutanix.
- In Nutanix Monitoring Configuration, click Add.
- Add the monitoring configuration as described in the following table:

| Prism Central Configuration | The Prism Central Configuration section enables you to connect the KM to a Nutanix Prism Central instance. Provide the following connection and authentication details: - Prism Central Host—Enter the Prism Central host name or IP address.
- Prism Central Port—Enter the Prism Central port number. The default port number is 9440.
- Username—Enter the username to connect to Prism Central.
- Password—Enter the password to connect to Prism Central.
- Confirm Password—Re-enter the password to connect to Prism Central.

| JVM Arguments | Enter the Java Virtual Machine arguments for the Java collector. For example, for Java memory settings, enter Xms256m -Xmx1024m. |
| Device Mapping Details | Expand the Device Mapping Details section to configure the mapping of clusters, hosts, and virtual machines to their corresponding device according to the following details: - Cluster Device Mapping—Enables you to associate a cluster name with a device name for monitoring Nutanix clusters by using one of the following options:
- External DNS name—The cluster’s DNS name is automatically retrieved during discovery from the REST API response. The system uses the returned Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) to create the cluster device. This is a default option.
- Cluster instance name—The cluster name is automatically assigned during discovery based on the response returned by the REST API. When the discovery operation is performed, the system retrieves the cluster identifier from the API and uses the identifier to create and register the cluster instance.
- Disabled—The cluster device is not created.
- Host Device Mapping—Enables you to associate a host name with a device name for monitoring Nutanix hosts by using one of the following options:
- External DNS name—The host’s DNS name is automatically retrieved during discovery from the REST API response. The system uses the returned Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) to create the host device. This is a default option.
- Host instance name—The host name is automatically assigned during discovery based on the REST API response. When the discovery operation is performed, the system retrieves the host identifier from the API and uses the identifier to create and register the host instance.
- Disabled—The host device is not created.
- VM Device Mapping—Enables you to associate a virtual machine name with a device name for monitoring Nutanix virtual machines by using one of the following options:
- External DNS name—The VM’s DNS name is automatically retrieved during discovery from the REST API response. The system uses the returned Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) to create the VM device. This is a default option.
- VM instance name—The VM name is automatically assigned during discovery based on the REST API response. When the discovery operation is performed, the system retrieves the VM identifier from the API and uses the identifier to create and register the VM instance.
- Disabled—The VM device is not created.

| Object Filtering Details | Expand the Object Filtering Details to configure the following filter types for cluster, host, and VM: - Cluster Name—Enter the name of the cluster.
- Cluster Filter Type—Select Include or Exclude to filter clusters based on a name pattern you provide.
- Host Name—Enter the name of the host.
- Host Filter Type—Select Include or Exclude to filter hosts based on a name pattern you provide.
- VM Name—Enter the name of the virtual machine.
- VM Filter Type—Select Include or Exclude to filter VM based on a name pattern you provide.
