Product overview

PATROL for MongoDB Knowledge Module (KM) is used to monitor the availability, health, and performance of the MongoDB database. PATROL for MongoDB collects data from the MongoDB database hosts. The KM monitors MongoDB Clusters, MongoDB Shards, Replica Sets, Config Servers, and Members of Replica Sets. PATROL for MongoDB contains a set of monitor types and attributes:

These monitor types and attributes are used to monitor, analyze, and manage MongoDB databases.

The BMC PATROL for MongoDB operates with PATROL Agent and BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration console to monitor MongoDB database. BMC PATROL for MongoDB contains knowledge in the form of monitor types and attributes, this knowledge is used to monitor, analyze, and manage MongoDB databases.

Routing service for MongoDB Shards

You can monitor MongoS, MongoDB shard routing service, by configuring the MongoDB monitor type to collect data for the inserts, queries, updates, virtual memory size, open connections etc. For more information about configuring the monitor type, see Configuring-a-MongoDB-environment. Sharded cluster

BMC PATROL for MongoDB helps you to monitor a sharded deployment of MongoDB. You can set thresholds of the attributes of the MongoDB Cluster monitor type to monitor the MongoDB sharded clusters. For more information about MongoDB Cluster attributes, see MongoDB-Cluster.

Database health

You can monitor the index size, database storage, data size, and name space size. The MongoDB Database Name attributes help you monitor the database health, for more information about these attributes, see Mongo-Database-Name.

Replica Set and Replica Set Member

Creating filters for monitoring	Include or exclude Namespaces from monitoring Enable or disable container monitoring
Viewing performance graphs	View graphs created by using the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of the monitor type. By using the graphing options, you can dynamically change the metric or other graph data. Graph data can be viewed hourly, weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
Viewing events	View intelligent events on the selected attributes and for the selected duration. PATROL Agent events that are associated with monitors are also considered intelligent events.
