Service Status (ServiceStatus)

Indicates whether a service is up or down.

Note

The Service Status attribute in BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management is referred as the ServiceStatus parameter in BMC PATROL.

By default, when an automatic service is stopped, this parameter enters an Alarm state. However, for a particular monitored service, you can specify that the parameter enters a Warn state instead.

For more information about changing the default behavior, see Configuring service monitoring.

  • 0 = Running
  • 1 = OK, Not Running - If you do not select the Generate an Alarm/Warning when service is stopped option while configuring the Windows Services, the KM does not generate and alarm/warning. The KM will display OK status when the service is not running.
  • 2 = Warning Not Running - If you select the Generate an Alarm/Warning when service is stopped option while configuring the Windows Services, you can choose to either trigger an alert or a warning when a service is stopped. If you choose warning the KM will send a warning when the service is stopped.
Hence the KM displays Warning, Not running option when the service is not running.
  • 3 = Alarm Not Running - If you select the Generate an Alarm/Warning when service is stopped option while configuring the Windows Services, you can choose to either trigger an alert or a warning when a service is stopped. If you choose alarm, the KM will trigger an alarm when the service is stopped. Hence the KM displays Alarm, not running option when the service is not running.
