4.9.00 enhancements
BMC PATROL has been enhanced with the following changes and new features.
Enhancements
Support for bulk host addition and configuration
The version 4.9.00 of BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers now supports the bulk host addition and configuration. The following are the features in bulk host addition:
- File Based host configuration
- Remote host configuration on single page
- Publish host name for remote hosts.
- PatrolAgent default account can be used for monitoring remote hosts.
- Monitor types activate/deactivate as required.
- Easy of configuration for Standard profile

WMI Remote monitoring
In version 4.9.00 of BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers, WMI WIzard has the following features:
- WMI queries can be monitored remotely.
- Option to specify the WMI Namespace.

Support for regular expression in Process arguments via CMA Process Policy Page
Processes can be monitored based on the arguments, which can be provided as regex. If there are multiple instances of a process which can be differentiated based on arguments then this field can be used with regex pattern to uniquely monitor it.
Enter regex pattern (default is .*) or exact command line argument of the processes to be monitored.
For example : To monitor process with argument -java.depot=123 enter regex pattern as ^\-java.*

Option to exclude Services in CMA Services Policy Page
Services policy page has option to provide a list of services which can be excluded from monitoring. Regex pattern can be used only with Display Name of service.
Service also can be excluded using Service name.

Image size reduction
In this version of BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers, two separate images have been created for Cluster KM with PCC and Windows Server KM.
Deprecated support for Microsoft COM+ and Message Queue knowledge modules
The following KMs have been deprecated since version 4.9.00 of BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers:
- BMC PATROL for Microsoft COM+ version 1.4.00
- BMC PATROL for Microsoft Message Queue version 1.5.00
If you are a new user or if you have upgraded to 4.9.00 version of BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers user, you will not be able to view these KMs.
Documentation changes
BMC PATROL for Microsoft Cluster Server KM has been separated from BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers KM. A new documentation space has been created for BMC PATROL for Microsoft Cluster Server 1.9.
