Installation requirements and supported resources


Verify that the target computer meets the installation requirements listed in the following table. These requirements apply to all PATROL for Windows Servers components.

  • Remote monitoring is supported on all the operating systems.
  • References to x86-64 include AMD64 and Intel 64 architecture.
  • References to the operating systems mentioned include all editions of these platform families.
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, x86-64 are supported.
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Core, x86-64 is not supported.

Security levels

 All security levels are supported.

For more information about PATROL security, see PATROL-Security-levels.

The PATROL Security Level is set during the installation of the PATROL infrastructure components. If your product contains the PATROL Agent, you are able to select the security level.

Make sure that the level that you select is compatible with the rest of your enterprise’s PATROL installation.

  • Distribution Server 7.8 and later
  • BMC ProactiveNet Operations Console 9.0 or later

License

You must have a valid demonstration license (typically good for 30 days) or a permanent license to run your PATROL products.

 

If you do not have a permanent license, contact your BMC Software sales representative or the BMC Software Contract Administration department.

Ports (UDP/TCP)

If you are installing an agent or console with PATROL for Windows Servers, you must specify the port number to connect to all the agent computers.

The default port number for agents is 3181.

The default port number for the RTServer is 2059.

Browsers

This product uses an installation utility that requires a browser. For a list of supported browsers, see the PATROL Installation Utility Online documentation.

Note

BMC products are certified for use on supported operating system versions. BMC does not explicitly test for OS patches/updates that are released after a BMC product is released.
