4.8.10.01: PATROL Knowledge Module for Microsoft Windows Operating System

The PATROL Knowledge Module for Microsoft Windows 4.8.10.01 fix pack corrects issues reported in earlier versions of PATROL for Microsoft Windows. For more information about the issues, see Known-and-corrected-issues.

To download the installation files

Select and download the installation files for your platform; see the following table. Use your BMC Support credentials to access the EPD website. You might also be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline. Click on this message for details.
This macro generates standalone content. As a consequence you need to make sure to use a syntax that separates your macro from the content before and after it so that it's on a line by itself. For example in XWiki Syntax 2.0+ this means having 2 newline characters (a.k.a line breaks) separating your macro from the content before and after it.

Installing the patch 

Before you begin

You must install the patch on the following computers:

• Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent
• Hosts that are running the PATROL Console

Before you install the patch, complete the following steps:

1. Stop the PATROL Agent.
2. Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
3. Delete all BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
4. Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.

To install the BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows 4.8.10.01 patch

After you have downloaded the installation utility and patch files, perform the following steps to install the patch:

1. Extract the installation utility:
   (Windows), double-click ins_WINDOWS_10700.zip.
   The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
2. Extract the patch file:
   (Windows), double-click psx_ALL_481001.zip.
   The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory. 
3. From the bmc_products directory, run the installation utility as appropriate for your operating system:
   (Windows), double-click setup.exe.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions until the Select Products and Components to Install page is displayed. 
5. On the Select Products and Components to Install page, select PATROL Knowledge Module for Microsoft Windows Operating System - Patch 4.8.10.01.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

   After you complete the installation steps, you can delete the temporary directory and its contents.
