Configuring time based SQL Server parameters

This topic provides instructions to configure time based SQL Server parameters in a Microsoft SQL environment.

To configure time based SQL Server parameters

1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click MSSQL node (MSSQL_SERVER_MAIN application class)
2. Access the KM menu commands as described in Accessing KM Menu Commands.
3. Choose the Configure time based parameters configuration KM menu command to display the Select server of hosthostName in environment envName dialog box.
4. In the Select server of host hostName in environment envName dialog box, 

   1. Select a regular expression from the regular expressions defined in the MS SQL server instance configuration for hostName in env envName dialog boxto apply the time based parameters configuration.

      Select the regular expressions from the drop-down list box and click Next.Selected MS SQL servers appear highlighted.

5. To continue with the configuration and to select the time based parameter configuration details, click Next. 
6. In the Time parameters configuration for servers of host hostName in environment envName dialog box, 
   1. 'Long Running Transactions' criteria (min) -  Specify the amount of time the transaction has been running before it is considered as a long running transaction. All long running transactions are reported by the Long Running Transactions parameter.  
       
   2. 'SQL Agent Hung Jobs' criteria (min) - Specify the amount of time the job has been running before it is considered as hung job. All the hung jobs are reported by the SQL Agent Hung Jobs parameter.

   1. 'Idle Procs' criteria (min) - Specify the amount of time the process has not been consuming any resources before it is considered as idle process. All the idle processes are reported by the Idle Procs parameter. 
      
      
   2. 'Number of Blocking Processes' criteria (min) - Specify the amount of time the process has been blocked by the blocking process before it is considered as blocking process. All the blocker processes are reported by the Number of Blocking Processes parameter. 
   3. Click Accept to save the configuration details.
   4. Click Cancel to exit without saving the configuration details.
