SQL Server File Group (Filegroup)

An MSSQL_SERVER_FILEGROUP (Filegroup) application is a functional application that provides specific parameters, menu commands, and InfoBox items for the file group that it represents. PATROL does not monitor file groups or create Filegroup application class instance icons as shipped. If you want to monitor file groups, you must enable the monitoring of Files and Filegroups through the KM Admin > Setup/Configure KM > Monitoring Setup menu command.

Note

Enabling file and file group monitoring creates two to three instances for every file in your environment. For this reason, we do not recommend that you enable the monitoring of files and file groups if you have more than 100 databases or more than 200 files in your environment.

To access the Filegroup application instances, double click a Database application icon.

Note

The SQL Server File Group monitor type in BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management is referred as the Filegroup application class in BMC PATROL.
