Monitoring the SQL Server error logs

Error Log application monitoring is disabled by default. Use the KM Admin > Setup/Configure KM > Monitoring Setup menu command from a Server application instance to enable monitoring of the SQL Server error logs and the SQL Server Agent error logs.

PATROL for Microsoft SQL Server uses a filter to capture the SQL Server error messages that contain the character strings that you enter by using the Setup Error Log String Monitoring menu command from the Error Log application instance.

You can view the captured SQL Server error messages whenever the ErrorLogUpdates parameter goes into alarm or anytime by using the Reports menu commands from the Error Log application instance. You can set up error log size monitoring and error log free disk space monitoring using menu commands, and you can use a menu command to set up how the ErrorLogColl parameter operates.
