Using the Monitoring Setup dialog box

The Monitoring Setup dialog box enables you to control whether or not PATROL monitors the SQL Server Agent, Filegroups and Files, Mirrors, and Replication. Monitoring for all of these features is turned on by default.
The Monitoring Setup dialog box also enables you to enable the monitoring of these SQL Server features.

Note

  • The SQL-Server-Agent-Failed-Jobs-SQLAgentJobFailure parameter does not display unless SQL Server Agent monitoring is enabled (turned on) in this dialog box.
  • The Filegroup and File application class instances do not display unless Filegroup and File space monitoring is enabled (turned on) in this dialog box.
  • The Subscriber and Published application class instances do not display unless replication monitoring is enabled (turned on) in this dialog box.
  • The SQL Server error log and SQL Server Agent error log
Warning

Enabling file and file group monitoring creates two to three instances for every file in your environment. For this reason, we do not recommend that you enable the monitoring of files and file groups if you have more than 100 databases or more than 200 files in your environment.
