Enhanced remote monitoring

The remote monitoring feature of BMC PATROL for Microsoft Exchange Servers has been enhanced to support full monitoring of multiple remote Exchange Servers. Monitoring of the following objects has been enabled for remote Exchange Servers:

  • Perfmon objects
  • Queues 
  • Databases
  • Top consumers
    • Top resource consuming mailboxes and folders
    • Top mail senders and receivers
  • RoundTrip Internet 
  • RoundTrip Client
  • RoundTrip Server

Advanced filtering options

Filters are added at each configuration level to enable or disable the object from monitoring. You can filter one or more of the following objects to streamline your configuration:

  • Queues - Enable or disable monitoring of queues and filter them based on the queue delivery type 
  • Database - Enable or disable monitoring of available databases and filter them based on database status, database state and its context index state.
  •  Mailbox consumers - Enable or disable monitoring of top resource consuming mailboxes, folders, top mail senders and receivers. Filter these components based on the mail message count and size.

Simplified Exchange Server configurations

A single Exchange Server can now be monitored using minimum configuration settings. Enter the fully qualified server name and Exchange domain user credentials to start monitoring your Microsoft Exchange Server.

Support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2016

BMC PATROL for Microsoft Exchange Server 6.1.00 now supports Microsoft Exchange Server 2016. For information about all supported Exchange versions, see System-requirements.

Support for automatic discovery and configuration

Enable automatic discovery across domain option has been introduced to enable automatic discovery and monitoring of all the Exchange servers within the domain. This option can be enabled from the Central Monitoring Administration configuration screen. For more information, see  Configuring domain monitoring.

Support to execute cmdlet commands from Operations Management Console

If this option is enabled, you can execute the Exchange PowerShell commands from the TrueSight Operations Console. 

For example: get-exchangeseerver, get-queue and other commands.

Introduced new monitor types and attributes

Filters have been provided to disable monitoring of unmounted databases. Filtering based on the database status will remove the unwanted database instances.
