Can we monitor the file on shared path without mounting it on PATROL Agent computer?

Yes, it can be monitored.


How to print specific number of lines from a monitored text file in an event that is generated when a match is found?

To print specific number of lines from a monitored text file, add the number of lines that you want to add to the event in the Number of lines in log entry field. Then, create the /PMG/CONFIG/<instanceName>/appendLogEntryLinesToCustomEvent configuration variable with value set as 1 (Configuration Variable > Add Configuration Variable). Can we monitor a log file with a user who is not PATROL default account?

Yes, you can use a username who has access and can read the files and folders that you want to monitor. For more information, see Configuring-Log-Monitoring.
