Adding configuration variables manually

There are some configuration variables that are not automatically available, and they are not activated through a menu command. You must enter these variables manually.

This topic provides instructions on how you can add configuration variables manually by using the Agent Configuration utility (pconfig, wpconfig, xpconfig) available in a developer console. You can also use the BMC Software PATROL Configuration Manager product to add, modify, and distribute configuration variables throughout your environment. The general requirements for installing and instructions on how to use the PATROL Configuration Manager are set out in the PATROL Configuration Manager User Guide.

To add or modify a pconfig variable manually by using the Agent configuration utility in a Developer console:

  1. Right-click the host, and select Development > Agent Configuration.
  2. From the main menu, select Edit > Add Variable. The Add Variable dialog box opens.
  3. In the Add Variable dialog box, enter the variable in the Variable text box. The following is an example of a completed entry:
    /PMG/CONFIG/customEventCatalog
  4. Enter the value you want to apply to the variable in the Value text box.
  5. To apply the configuration variable you created, select Tools > Apply Configuration.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
