Exclude unmounted filesystems by name

You can enter regular expressions to exclude unmounted filesystems from monitoring. For more information, see Configuring-FileSystems

Exclude container-related filesystems

You can enter regular expressions to exclude container-related filesystems from monitoring. By default the following regular expressions that identify such filesystems are available in the FileSystems monitor type - /var/lib/docker.*,/var/lib/kubelet.*,/run/docker/netns.*,/run/docker/runtime.*,/app/docker.*,/var/lib/origin/openshift.*

When you upgrade to PATROL for Linux 20.05.00, such container-related filesystems are removed from monitoring automatically.

Exclude networks

You can enter regular expressions to exclude networks from monitoring. A new monitor type (Networks) is added to the Linux Basic and Linux Default monitor profiles where the following regular expression is available by default - veth.*. For more information, see Configuring-networks.

New pconfig variables

The following new pconfig variables are added for local and remote monitoring. For more information, see PATROL-for-Linux-agent-configuration-variables.

Enable KM debug logs

A new monitor profile (Linux Debug) is added to the KM to enable KM debug logs. For more information, see Configuring-KM-debug.

Enable monitoring of Inode performance for the NFS filesystem types

For the NFS filesystem types, the attributes monitoring the Inode performance are enabled. These attributes are present in the FileSystem application class:

  • Percent Inodes Used (InodeUsedPercent)
  • Number of Free Inodes (in thousands) (FreeInodes)

New attributes

Here are the new attributes that are added to the KM. The names of these attributes are similar to existing attributes, but their units are different.

Updates to enhance security

The KM does not require PATROL root credentials for installation. If you are monitoring Linux Virtualization monitor type, make sure that you perform the prerequisites mentioned on the following page - Configuring-Linux-Virtualization-monitor-profile

Updates to attributes metadata

Aligned attributes metadata as per the BMC standards to have same look and feel across all KMs.

These changes would not affect your existing alarms and thresholds configurations when you upgrade to PATROL for Linux 20.05.00.
